- Wash the hair. Braid-outs done on wet hair last a lot longer.
- Add your usual leave-ins but also add diluted Lottabody Setting Lotion to your hair with a spray bottle. Apply liberally. Lottabody Setting Lotion is a clear and light product that adds major hold to any texture of hair without build-up or flaking.
- Plait the wet hair in sections. Smaller plaits will yield smaller crimps in the hair.
- Dry hair thoroughly. Plaits that are removed before hair is fully dry will give less of a crimp and the overall style will not last as long as it could. Use a blow-dryer to speed up the process if you choose.
- Remove the plaits. Some people keep the plaits for day and style them. Others simple remove the plaits for a braid-out that can last as long as two weeks before losing all of it's curl definition.
Keep It Kinky!
I love this post!
ReplyDeleteThe woman in the picture's locs are GORGEOUS to say the least!! Hopefully my locs will look as good (and as long) as hers some day.
And this braid-out is a GREAT alternative to using clips. I actually prefer this to clipping new growth.
Thanks for posting something for those of us with locs because most blogs just focus on natural hair that isn't loc'd so it's nice to find tips for locs too.
