I tried to do a basketweave in the back and two large flat twists in the front for a short lock updo. |
It's getting rough. Your hair isn't looking the way you want and you're wondering if locs are really for you. You didn't know that your locks would look like this during the third month. Youv'e in the transitional stage that people call the "ugly phase of locks." Don't worry! You're not alone. I am constantly itching to take down these locs and go back to loose natural hair since hitting month three of having these braidlocks. Here are just a few reasons that many women, like us, often fall off the lock journey train after the third month:
- The hair tends to become fuzzy and unruly.
- Your hair can look dull and lackluster.
- If you have short locks, they may be sticking up and your fuzzy, spiky hair may not fit into your professional image.
Solutions
- Wear your hair in an updo to camouflage the fuzziness. There are countless updos that can be done for most lengths of hair. Check KiK's Natural Hair Gallery for a few ideas.
- Curl your babylocks. Curling your hair gives it body and camouflage's the fuzzy appearance.
- Cover it up. If your locks are not mature, you may be able to pin it down and put a wig on top without giving away the fact that you are wearing a wig. Yes, your friends may notice but hey, at least you still look presentable.
- If your hair is dull, go to a stylist to get have a thorough wash done or do a vinegar and baking soda rinse yourself. Dull hair is usually a result of build-up.
- Visit your stylist regularly. If you can afford it, go to your stylist every two weeks and have him or her give you a style that may last a couple of weeks.
Lovely pic! I love the hair, lipstick and your necklace. So pretty!
