3+ Week Braids Plait Extensions Update & Care Regimen

So, it's been a while since I've spoken to you about my braids. It's been a very easy road for me this go around. I selected the plaits extensions because I thought they'd look great for a wedding (which was wonderful - see pic below) and I'd be doing major surgery and wouldn't have the energy (I have even less than anticipated) to put into my hair.

The braids extensions worked fabulously as my natural bridesmaid wedding hairstyle for my great friend's wedding.

They have worked out really well. You can see the braids second from right in the picture above. I couldn't have been more satisfied with how low maintenance they were for both the wedding and since my surgery. Here is what I've done with them in the almost 4 weeks since they have been done. You can skip to the video at the end if you want to see exactly what I've been doing.

I've washed them after 2 weeks. I used Creme of Nature Moisture & Shine Shampoo with Argan Oil which was very moisturising. I also added a little Vo5 Conditioner to the second wash just to get a little more moisture in. I then air dried and waited until my hair was 75% dry to oil it with a light oil.

I've moisturised and sealed them. To moisturise and seal, I spritz with water and massage my scalp with a Beautiful Texture's Shine & Silken Growth Oil. I demonstrate this in the video at the end of this post.

I've bunned them. During the hospital period, I tried to keep them in a bun on top of my head to reduce the possibility of them getting in my way. This is also occasionally convenient at home. I don't wrap them at night because I sometimes get headaches and really can't take any more tension.

The Growth
My hair seems to have grown about a 1/4 -1/2 inch so far. The new growth isn't bothering me... especially since I'm not really going anywhere much for it to be seen. LOL.

The Plan
My plan is to keep the extensions for a total of 8 weeks or two months. I will wash my hair every two weeks and try to moisturise and seal the hair every 3 or so days. I'm hoping to run right into another protective style once I'm done.
