A Work Hairstyle for Natural or Transitioning Hair

Need a natural hairstyle for work tomorrow morning? Try the one pictured above. The style is best done on stretched hair so blow-dry your hair or stretch it in a bun prior to prepping.

THE NIGHT BEFORE – PREPPING (5-10 minutes)
  • Moisturise your hair with a water-based product then seal with a light non-greasy oil. This should ensure that your style is moisturised for at least the next day.
  • Pin curl your hair or set it on rollers. Pay specific attention to the front that will create your stylist, on-tren bangs.
  • You could also set your wet hair on rollers.

MORNING STYLING (5-10 minutes)
  • Remove the curlers with oily fingers to minimize frizzing while trying not to disturb the curl.
  • Clip away the bang section in the front. You'll get to it later.
  • Loosely secure the back  section of your hair with a ponytail holder/ banana clip or other styling tool.
  • Pin the other curls that may not reach around the ponytail and try to cover the holder.
  • Be creative. The back does not have to look exactly the same. You can put it in a banana clip or a neat bun too. Do what suits your personal style.
  • Pull the curls at the top of your head to the front to create bangs.
  • If the curls aren't holding, don't be afraid to add some heat protectant then go in with a curling wand or traditional curling iron to achieve the desired look.

Have a great week.
– Keep it Kinky
