Foodie Fridays | Fish Soup (Caribbean Style)

Jamaicans, and Caribbean nationals in general tend to do fish soup a little differently from people in the rest of the world. Today's post will show you how to do a fish soup like they do in Trinidad and Tobago. INGREDIENTS for FISH
  • 2.5 lbs ocean fish
  • Caribbean green seasoning or favourite herbs
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • salt
SOUP INGREDIENTS
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • fresh thyme
  • 2 scallions (green onions/spring onions)
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 potatoes
  • 4 green cooking bananas
  • 1 cup callalloo or spinach
  • 1 cup diced pumpkin
  • 1 sweep potato
  • 2 tbsp cilantro
  • 3 cups fish stop
  • salt to taste
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 scotch bonnet pepper
  • pre-seasoned fish
  • Macaroni (optional)
