Product Review | Queen Helene Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream

Your hair is like a baby. When you don't take good care of it, it dies. My hair has been dying. After my last wash and a pseudo flat-ironing session, it was clear to me that I need to deep treat my hair. I ended up  the beauty supply where the store clerk  suggested Queen Helene's Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream because "it leaves your hair soft, soft, soft and moisturized." I bought it. Here is the review.

How I used this product:
  1. Wash hair with Cream of Nature Detangling Shampoo (Red Bottle)
  2. Apply Queen Helene Cholesterol
  3. Cover with plastic cap and continue household chores.
  4. Remove cap after a couple of hours. (plastic cap was warm)
  5. Rinse and style with Jane Carter Nourish and Shine.

Here are my thoughts and notes on the experience:
  • Gosh! This is such unappealing packaging.
  • It doesn't smell too bad... or too good.
  • Hmmm. It is thick and coats my hair nicely without the risk of dripping.
  • I instantly feel my hair getting softer. Wow.
  • The ingredients (below) aren't all natural... but I don't care.
  • Hmm. I guess this isn't supposed give slip to make detangling much easier.
  • After rinsing, it still feels pretty soft. Wow. It's actually softened my hair.
  • Hmmm. My post-wash detangling isn't so bad since my hair is softer even though I am using a detangler.
  • My hair is now air-dried and styled and I think my hair feels much stronger too.
  • I'll definitely be using this again. It's cheap and effective!

  1. pssst - i still use this as a pre-treatment on my hair, especially when it needs protein :) Even though I appear to be an "ingredient gangsta", I love this stuff. Indeed it works! Shhh. dont tell too many people, lol.

  2. Hahaha. You're just not a product ingredient prejudiced. Neither am I. This stuff works. I will be using it weekly on my coloured hair. I hope it helps and that it isn't too much with the leave-in Infusium 23.

  3. Yes, the packaging is hideous! I bought the Queen Helene mud mask and it stung my face so much that I threw the jar away and vowed to never again purchase their products.

For now, I like to do hot oil treatments with a castor/olive/coconut blend.

  4. I have very curly unruly red thick hair and have tried just about everything out there to help my hair. I don't like spending $20.00 on a 8 oz bottle of something that doesn't work, just paying for the name!

I was talking about my frustration to a patient of mine who owns his own salon told me about cholesterol and said to put it on my hair over night. He said it was a good product. He also said using olive oil would help as well. I used olive oil for a while but it really didnt do what I wanted so I set out to find cholesterol.

I could not find it at any of our local stores and went into a beauty store.
I admit was skeptical at first, no it doesn't smell the greatest but its cheap so I thought oh well cant hurt I guess and I wont be out to much if it don't work. I now use it 3 times a week and LOVE my hair!! I will even take a little in my hand with water to calm it some if it gets static. LOVE this stuff!
I found that using it has also soften my hands so I thought about trying some on my feet and socks at night...it works!! So not only does this gal have great healthy hair (which my stylist asked to know my secret) my hands and feet look good too!

P.S. I don't over rinse my hair and never use a towel anymore. I use a xx lg white t shirt and wrap my hair. Towels have a course knap and roughs up hair making it frizzy
