Clairol Textures and Tones Hair Colour (Indoor/Shade) |
You may notice that my hair is a bit bright. Well, I was aiming for something a little darker but, I was tired and fell asleep. I know. That is why I should have gone to a salon. My hair is a LOT brighter than intended. I used Clairol Textures and Tones in 4RC Cherrywood. In any case. I'm just loving the fact that there is a difference. I just want to have some fun with my hair. Still, I can already feel the difference in my hair.
Dyed Kinky/Natural Hair with Textures and Tones in $RC Cherrywood |
Last night, when I dyed my hair, it felt soft, silky and smooth. This morning, however, after falling asleep without covering my hair (I was really tired guys), my hair noticeably felt slightly more brittle and hard. So what is my new regimen to ensure that my hair stays as moisturised and healthy as harshly dyed, natural, kinky hair can be? Uhm. I'll tell you once I figure that out. Don't forget to head over to my YouTube Channel @COMEandMINGLE to subscribe and get the latest of my hair chats. I will talk about all the products I try there.
OMG!!!! Girl, I can't believe you did it and fell asleep! Lawd, non the less it looks really good. We will talk details on msn lol you know who this is
ReplyDeleteI love the shade and it looks great, no worries!
ReplyDeleteThanks Niki.
ReplyDeleteYes anonymous. We talk.
You look good!
ReplyDeleteI like your necklace and earrings! I hope you find a regimen that provides the moisture you need. However, the color is beautiful & suits you very well! I dyed my hair this past summer with Dark N Lovely "Red Hot Rhythm" and my hair is more dry and brittle too. But I really like the color. Perhaps I shouldve went to a professional though {shrugs}.
Sleep!! Girl I would have been scared to death upon rinsing! And I don't understand why people would say someone is no longer natural after coloring their hair. I thought it was understand that we celebratebeing natural as in our natural textures? Anywho, the color looks good! I believe most people just up their deep conditions and moisturize a lot to keep it feeling soft.
ReplyDeleteHey gorgeous - love that shade! I guess I wasnt natural for about 3 years on my fotki because I colored my hair 2-3 times over a 3 yr period, lol. Deep condition your hair regularly, particularly now that its colored... it will need it. Maybe add an egg too for protein. I noticed my dyed hair over time was frizzer and thinner than my non-dyed hair as I saw the new length coming in.
ReplyDeleteHey Amma Mama.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. The last time I got a professional colour my hair was seriously messed up so don't be too hard on yourself. I think I know what my regimen will be so I'll be sharing it on my youtube channel soon.
Hi Chan
I was scared. lol. I was in a panic. I instantly did a deep condition. I wasn't waiting to begin my moisture infusion. We'll see how it goes.
Yes Lina,
I've already started deep conditioning. I will probably be using infusium 23 leave-in to increase my protein. Wish me luck!
Well let me add to the chorus of how beautiful your color is. Just be careful with subsequent applications cause overlapping with color can be just as damaging as overlapping relaxer chemicals especially when you start lifting color to go lighter. Going forward you may be wise to just let a stylist maintain your color. It's better to be safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteOh and I just wanted to add that I experienced the same thing as Lina regarding thinner hair. I never experienced any breakage but after about four years of coloring I could really see a very distintive difference in volume between my color treated hair and my virgin new growth. The color, as much as I loved it, really thinned out my length. My last color application was a year ago and my new growth is twice as coarse as my color treated hair. Considering this I find it amazing that I never experienced any breakage, but I am now gradually cutting the color out. So much for covering my gray!
ReplyDeleteHI Nappyme. Thanks! I don't plan to do any more color applications on my hair though for the very reasons you mentioned. I might consider an annual rinse to help blend the growth but I doubt that I'll do it.
ReplyDeleteThe last stylist who coloured my hair got my colour wrong, had to dye it twice because I had white hair then , of course, it thinned. I don't trust them. I rather try or fail on my own... but I'm not paying to fail. Your advice is very valued though. Thanks for writing.
Congrats on the no breakage thing!! What was your secret? lol.
You're very welcome. About the no breakage. All I can think of is that keeping it moisturized is the key. I don't use conditioner at all. Don't do protein treatments either. I keep my hair detangled, heavily moisturized and in protective styles all the time. I know a lot of folks would never want to do that but that's always been the way I wear my hair so no big deal. So I think the lack of handling my hair is what contributes to the lack of breakage.
ReplyDeleteThe color looks great! As someone who loves to color their hair (I'm slightly addicted). I make sure that my hair is always moisturized and I use a protein conditioner every other week. When I wasn't using a protein conditioner I noticed my hair shedding excessively, once I incorporated a good protein conditioner that stopped.
ReplyDeleteHi Expanding beauty. I'm glad you like the colour. I'm loving it more and more every day. I used to be hooked on colour too so I hope I don't get there again. lol. I'll tell my secret way of doing protein without deep conditioning. Hehehe. I'll post it this week.
