Do You Need A Protein Treatment or do you need Moisture?

While struggling with very brittle and dry hair, I felt a little embarrassed. I thought I was taking such good care of my hair. What was I doing wrong?

I was using too many protein treatments. While some occasional deep protein treatments (like Aphogee) are great and help to stop breakage, a good moisture treatment must be incorporated into any natural hair regimen. If your hair is brittle, try a moisture treatment.

Remember to check the ingredients list on the bottle. Many bottles that say "Moisture Treatment" are really filled with proteins. Learn your ingredients. Know what your hair need and give it what it needs.

  1. I know. People are so likely to grab a protein treatment when they may not even NEED one. Excess breakage could indicate a protein OVERLOAD! But the hair industry continues to make a big deal about protein, you can't blame folks for getting all confused. Hopefully some of these wise words will reach ours sistas before protein has 'em lookin' like chickens. :p
