The Infamous Shower Comb Reviewed

It is easily one of the most popular combs on the natural hair scene. The most common brand of this comb is the Conair version. Unfortunately, I've never thought it as great detangling tool but see the full review. It's not all bad.

Pros

- Easy to use
- Durable: It can stand up
  to your natural hair.
- Functional

Cons

- Poor hand grip in the shower (go figure)
- Does not detangle roots easily because
of the nobs at the end or the teeth.
- Doesn't snag hair a lot.
- Doesn't thoroughly detangle

Bottom Line

There are better detangling tools out there (like the Tangle Teezer). As a regular comb, however, it functions well and if you are just looking for a loose detangle, say after a co-wash to prep for a wash n' go, this works well.

  1. i find those that rave about the tangle teaser have (4 hair) more kinky hair, while the shower comb is good for (3 hair) more curly hair. Just something that I've noticed.... There are different TYPES of natural hair- One glove doesn't fit all so what is good for some is not all that great for others. Like the Denman brush, a lot of kinky haired girls refer to it as the "shredder" while those with a defined curl pattern love it for clumping and smoothing their coils. I think this type of info would help a lot of people; if they identify their hair type and learn whats best for what, they wont have to waste money experimenting and testing out all of these products. Or not.

  2. Hey Gab. You're definitely right about that. That's why I think it's important for women with different hair textures to blog. Video blogs are great for that too. I encourage women with specific textures to focus on those blogs or vlogs of women with similar textures who's hair they appreciate or like.
