| Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Moisturizing Shampoo |
It's product review season again. I have quite a few lined up to review over the next few months. The first product up for review this Spring is the new Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Moisturizing Shampoo for mixed textures. It currently gets a 3.4/5 rating on the Beautiful Textures website. I think that's pretty accurate. Oh yah, and it has a GREAT smell.
Why I Love It
This shampoo is ridiculously moisturizing and great for frequent shampooing. I've used this on a variety of hair textures and types.
- I diluted the shampoo and it still made my locs softer.
- It made kinky 4b/c hair very moisturized and soft. I could finger detangle very easily with this shampoo too.
- It made 3c/4a hair very springy and moist, even creating neat ringlets with clumping that often only happens with leaving conditioner in the hair.
What I Don't Like
This shampoo doesn't really clean the scalp very well and it will take a few washes with very warm water to fully get rid of any residue from it on the scalp and hair strand. It's just more effective as a cleanser when used with warm water and I wash regularly so I may just dilute this for my locks and use it twice a week. You may wash though and think it's fully gone but you may feel the residue of the shampoo a bit if you're really paying attention. Again, there are things I didn't like on the different textures.- My locs were a bit more fuzzy - probably because of the tangle taming quality of the shampoo. It's also not clear but I can dilute it to work around that problem for my locks.
- Kinky 4b hair was very moisturized but it was very difficult to get a very dirty scalp very clean.
- 3c/4a hair was most moisturized but, again, it was very difficult to get a very dirty scalp very clean.
Summary
This product is great but I feel more like I did a thorough co-wash when I'm done. The cleansing properties are enhanced by the use of warm water so no cold water washes with this product.
It's good for daily or frequent shampooing without stripping the hair but you will still need to get a clarifying shampoo to use every once in a while. It's kind of a co-wash shampoo. LOL. Will I buy it? definitely, but not until my locs are fully formed. I don't want to risk untangling my locs.
Ultimately, it made me wish I had loose natural hair to use this on. Their products are generally great!

I'm curious to try this line, still on the fence as to if I'll give them a go or not, once my current products run out.
